Planning to take your business global? Whether you want to export Indian products to foreign markets or import goods into India, the first legal step is IEC Registration.
The Import Export Code (IEC) is a unique 10-digit code issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), required by any individual or business involved in international trade.
Without an IEC, you cannot legally import goods, export products, or receive foreign payments for exports.
At Lincenzo, we make IEC registration fast, easy, and completely online so you can focus on growing your business while we handle all the paperwork.
IEC stands for Import Export Code. It is a mandatory license for any person or company involved in importing or exporting goods and services from India.
It acts as your business’s identity for international trade, required at customs, banks, and other authorities for processing import-export transactions.
IEC is required for:
Importers bringing goods into India.
Exporters sending goods outside India.
Businesses receiving payment in foreign currency.
Service exporters receiving foreign clients’ payments.
Don’t worry — if you’re missing something, we’ll guide you on how to get it quickly.
Build credibility with overseas clients.
No filing or renewal needed after registration.
One-time registration for unlimited trade.
Explore new foreign markets.
Simple documentation and quick approval.
If your business is related to food in any way, you likely need an FSSAI license. This includes:
No goods can be imported/exported without it.
Required to get goods cleared by customs authorities.
Banks need it for foreign currency transfers.
Opens doors to international business opportunities.
It’s a lifetime registration.

IEC is valid for a lifetime. You do not have to renew it every year, but you must update your details with DGFT in case of changes in address, ownership, or business name.
You do not need IEC if:
Goods are imported/exported for personal use, not for business.
You are registered under GST and using PAN as IEC for certain categories.
Specific government departments or ministries import/export goods.
If you change your business name, address, or bank details, you must apply for IEC modification to keep your license valid and up-to-date.
Entering incorrect PAN or business details.
Using inactive bank accounts.
Not updating changes in DGFT records.
Missing documents during application.
